Cheers Chicken & Noodle (2nd visit)

FIRST POST ON CHEERS CHICKEN & NOODLE [HERE]

Hmm late night eats in Burquitlam? A couple of pubs, Boston Pizza, Church's Chicken, Joey's, Wings, Pho 99 and a few Korean restaurants. Who am I kidding? I deliberately made the trip to get some fried chicken from Cheers Chicken & Noodle! From what I remember, the restaurant serves the juiciest and tastiest fried chicken that I ever had in quite a long time! Walking in, the restaurant was fairy quiet and there were a few people drinking and chatting. 

BANCHAN, KOREAN SIDE DISHES.

SHREDDED CABBAGE AND TAKUAN.

Some white diced pickled radish was also given later. The shredded cabbage tastes fresh and the thousand island dressing tastes housemade, very light and not generic. As for the takuan, the radish tastes generic and has a very light pickled taste.

SWEET POTATO NOODLE WITH MIXED VEGETABLE AND BEEF ($14.99).

I am not really a fan of sweet potato noodles. However, since the menu was a bit limited after ordering chicken and not wanting soup, I gave it a try since I really liked Insadong's. 

Despite the noodles tasting slightly overcooked and a bit mushy, there is a good amount of onion, green onion, carrot as well as shredded beef. But, unfortunately the vegetables and shredded beef do not have that nice stir fried taste. Furthermore, there is also a bit too much sauce which resulted in a wet pool of noodles at the bottom of the plate. As for the sauce, it is soy sauce based and tastes rather sweet, like a medium sweetness. 

PIG TROTTERS ($17.99).

The accompanying sauces are ssamgjang, garlic, jalapeño and saeujot. The jokbal is served warm rather than chilled, and has a sugar, soy sauce and ginger marinade flavour (of course rice wine as well but I could not really taste it).

The meat tastes sweet, very tender as well as fatty, and due to the heavy cut, we asked if lettuce was available. The restaurant did not have lettuce but the waitress brought a few thin slices of daikon sheets for us to use as a wrap, which was very kind of them. Also, from my experience at a Korean pub (Chom Chom Fusion), lettuce was not provided as well with the jokbal. This kind of gives me the impression that late night or pub style Korean restaurants do not serve lettuce with pig hock since most people are there to drink. 

ORIGINAL FRIED CHICKEN, WHOLE ($17.99).

The fried chicken has a flavourful salt n' pepper seasoning and the skin tastes perfectly crisp. However, the chicken does not taste juicy, especially compared to the last visit when every cut of meat was dripping with juice. Furthermore, most pieces of chicken including the thigh taste dry :(. Regardless, the meat was still tender as well as tasty.
