Richmond Sushi

POST ON KINGSWAY SUSHI [HERE]
REVISIT POST ON RICHMOND SUSHI [HERE]

Richmond Sushi or Aji Taro are my usual go-to's for All You Can Eat when I am really hungry, and want fast food or simple rolls. We always stick to the deluxe menu as well so there is never a feeling of being limited. However, sometimes I do want to try the late night since it is really cheap! Furthermore, Richmond Sushi is a regular restaurant of mine and we frequently visit at least three to four times a month. Although the food is not always the best, it is pretty good for an AYCE restaurant.

DELUXE  $33.50 || CHILDREN (5-9) $15.95
REGULAR $25.50 || CHILDREN (5-9) $12.95
LATE NIGHT $14.95 ||CHILDREN (5-9) $9.95

AVOCADO ROLL, ALASKA ROLL, CALIFORNIA ROLL AND TORO CHOP CHOP.
The avocados are always freshly cut, green as well as ripe, and I have never seen any brown spots on my at least hundreds of visits. Next, the alaska and california rolls are pretty average, never heavy on the mayonnaise and I prefer shredded crab meat over the stick. And last, the toro chop chop. The toro chop chop actually has toro unlike the negitoro rolls at many restaurants, regardless if it is an all you can eat restaurant or not.

UNAGI, INARI, TAKO AND EBI NIGIRI.
The inari tastes sweet, the tako has a nice pleasant chewiness as well as a faint octopus taste, and the ebi  always tastes generic, a packaged cooked shrimp. I am not a fan of unagi but BF orders it occasionally.

SOCKEYE SALMON, ATLANTIC SALMON, HAMACHI, TUNA, AMAEBI, HOKKIGAI AND MIRUGAI.
The sashimi is nicely cut in small but thick slices and everything tastes fresh (aside from the hokkigai because it is packaged). For the hamachi, the sashimi is more fresh than Matoi Sushi's which we visited the night before Richmond Susuhi, and this is an all you can eat restaurant!

BEEF SASHIMI.
Th beef sashimi always tastes fresh and pretty tasty.

TUNA TATAKI.
The tuna tataki is always evenly seared and quite tasty, however, I am not sure why there is so much sauce this time. Although not that big of the deal, I do prefer less sauce.

SMELT FISH.
The smelt fish is over deep fried which is a bit odd, considering that this is a first for us. Although as usual, the smelt fish does fast better than Aji Taro's.

PRAWN TEMPURA.
The prawn tempura is always lightly battered as well as flaky, never too oily and tastes meaty with a nice snap.

SALMON TEMPURA.
We did not order the salmon tempura but tried it anyways, of course. The salmon tastes pretty dry as well as over deep fried which happens.

GRILLED FISH COD.
The cod always tastes the same, never overcooked, slightly sweet and very buttery.

SALMON BELLY.
There was this one point when I was obsessed with their salmon belly and came here three days in a row haha. Then on one visit, the salmon belly was extremely salty and I got sick of them. The salmon belly always taste moist with a nice crisp exterior.

BEEF SHORT RIBS.
The short ribs are usually average to above average, however, on this visit the meat tastes really salty as tough which rarely happens. Personally though, the short ribs are more of a "just order a couple since it is AYCE".

BEEF UDON.
BF always orders the beef udon and says it is better than Matoi Sushi's. The broth tastes flavourful with a slight sweetness and the noodles are perfectly cooked, slightly soft with a nice chewiness. The only reason for comparing Matoi Sushi is because well, the food was not that great and we wanted our sushi fix so came here the next day.

OYSTER MOTOYAKI.
I never eat these anymore but of course liked them when I was younger, however, BF still occasionally orders them. Richmond sushi uses smaller canned oysters rather than the larger ones like most restaurants that cut them in halves.

MANGO PUDDING.
The mango pudding has improved within the last six months and tastes slightly sweet with a mango flavour. The pudding tastes 10z better than Aji Taros's. The mango pudding here is a favourite of mine.

TAPIOCA PUDDING.

The tapioca pudding has a faint sweet taste and a good amount of perfectly gooey black sesame in the interior. Although once in a while I have had dried up black sesame though.

    1. Ohhh which AYCE would you recommend instead?

      I was planning on visiting Vibes and someone posted their health inspection report, which made me also take a peak at Richmond Sushi's! I noticed the restaurant was sanitary as they should have been but the sashimi is always fresh and mainly the reason why I come here.
