CHEWIE'S BISCUIT CO

Southern United States cuisine lacks in Vancouver and while there are more fried chicken and barbecue restaurants popping up, what about biscuits and gravy? Chewie's Biscuit Co is a fairly new eatery located on the West side in Kitsilano and specializes in biscuits! In addition, Chewie's offers all day breakfast until 5:00pm (Sunday to Thursday) and 7:00pm (Friday and Saturday).

We visited on a weekday morning right when the restaurant opened at 9:00am and shorty others followed. The menu covers everything from bennies and breakfast bowls to of course biscuits and dessert, such as bronut and french toast!

Cartems Donuterie

Continuing with C'est la vie Maggi and I's food date, we walked across the street from Finch's Tea and Coffee to grab some donuts. I have been wanting to try Cartems Donuterie for a while and was secretly quite happy when Maggi agreed. Cartems Donuterie seems to be the go to place for donuts and in my opinion, is a lot better than Forty Ninth Parallel, food and service wise. The donut shop has a high ceiling and an industrial look with bricked walls, polished wooden floors as well as tables, stools and wood stump seating.

Although the donut shop has less than ten seats, the interior is quite spacious and should not be too cramped if there is a long line up. As for the prices, the donuts are priced at $3.00/each, $15.00/half a dozen and $30.00/dozen. We tried picking out half a dozen but both agreed it was not worth the price since only three of the flavours stood out to us.

Outpost Mini Donut Co.

Before heading to Hog Shack, we decided to stop by for some donuts! Outpost Mini Donut Co. is an adorable little donut shop in Steveston. The shop sells mini donuts like the ones from PNE and offers a variety of icing flavours.

This photo frame is literally PERFECT, right?! I swear, the next people who make photo frames of this place are probably going to copy me LOL.

Forty Ninth Parallel Café & Lucky's Doughnuts

After dim sum at Dynasty Seafood Restaurant and before gelato at Amato Gelato, a donut stop was made. Apparently Forty Ninth Parallel is known for their donuts and a lot of my friends have been raving about them, so I finally made the visit. My first thoughts were, is this busy or what?! It seems like quite a few people come here to grab a drink as well as a donut and to study or chit chat. Do I consider it odd for a Sunday? Sort of… I rather be out walking around. A lot of people also just sat here with empty plates and finished drinks.

SALTED CARAMEL, LEMON POPPY SEED, GLAZED DONUT AND STONE FRUIT BISMARCK.
Since I wanted to finish the donuts on the same day but none of the flavours really popped out to me, I held a little tasting with some friends at home.
