Qoola is a Canadian frozen yogurt franchise and there are over ten locations in B.C. The frozen yogurt stands are usually located in shopping centres and are completely self serve.
Consumers select their choice(s) of frozen yogurt along with toppings and have control of the portion. This year, Qoola launched an organic selection and the flavours on my visit includes banana split, blood orange passionfruit, green tea, peach lychee, vanilla, lemon, original and blackberry. Asides from frozen yogurt, Qoola offers smoothies, "Q2GO" take home froyo or sorbet, and waffles.
At the Oakridge location, the lights were turned off at 5:00pm which was probably for something similar to Earth Hour. As for the selection of toppings, there are healthy ones as well as treats. The healthy toppings consist of fruit such as lychee, pineapple, honeydew, strawberry, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, oranges and kiwi.
For the treats, there are popping boba, a variety of crushed chocolate bars, sprinkles, M&Ms, yogurt chips, sour keys, gummy bears, chocolate chips, cheesecake, brownie bits and mochi.
FROZEN YOGURT ($1.59/100g).
My choices of frozen yogurt are green tea and blackberry. The green tea has a light matcha flavour and tastes a lot better than a few years ago. From what I remember, a few years ago the matcha tasted very bland and flavourless. As for the blackberry, the froyo is on the sweeter side. Both flavours of froyo taste slightly sweet as well as creamy and not too watery. In addition, the berries I selected are fresh as well as sweet. However, depending on the location, sometimes the fruits are bruised up and not very appealing.
TOTAL: $6.50.
Overall, Qoola may not be the best froyo but it does the job. Many of their locations are very convenient for those who are shopping and I always drop by whenever I see any Qoola.
