After trying out frissants (cronuts) at Swiss Bakery, my friend and I walked across the street to Nuba Cafe. I really did not want to come here because my last experience at Nuba was horrible, but since my friend needed to eat asap and cannot have junk for breakfast like me, I had no choice.
EGGPLANT STEW, SEASONAL VEGETABLES STEWED WITH ONIONS, TOMATOES, AND CHICK PEAS. SERVED WITH HUMMUS, SALAD, PICKLED CABBAGE, OLIVES, BROWN RICE AND PITA ($11.75).
The eggplant stew is not too mushy and is easy on the salt. In addition, there is a right amount of acidity from the tomato. Surprisingly, this is actually a light tasting stew and does not taste too heavy. As for the hummus, it tastes generic and simple as well as light, although to some, may taste bland. If anything, there was too much olive oil from the hummus as well as on the plate, and the salad tastes oily.
CHICKEN TAWOOK WITH HUMMUS. GRILLED MOUNT LEHMAN CHICKEN BREAST MARINATED IN PAPRIKA, THYME, LEMON AND GARLIC CONFIT. SERVED WITH HUMMUS AND AVOCADO ($9.50).
Fortunatley the chicken tastes tender, a bit moist, and has a nice charred taste. As for the avocado, it is of course ripe but I would have preferred the browning portion to be cut off (which to be honest, does not matter but it does bug me). This is definitely a healthy as well as simple snack.
SIDE OF PITA BREAD.
Tastes generic as always.
