Burgers Etc. BBQ House (2nd visit)

FIRST POST ON BURGERS ETC [HERE]

Ever had that feeling when EVERYTHING on the table tastes extremely good, so good that you take a bite of one item, move onto the next and continue the rotation like a greedy cartoon character? Well, it happened to me on my previous visit at Burgers Etc. In addition from my previous visit, I concluded that everything was a must order except for the brisket (which was not bad). Meaning, go for the ribs, wings and housemade brisket soup! Although unfortunately, the restaurant was sold out of the brisket soup and not going to lie, we were pretty upset because it tastes so good!

Coming on a Saturday evening, Burgers Etc was packed! Also, the atmosphere was a lot different than our previous visit, it was loud, filled with energy, and the owners actually checked up on almost every table.

SPICY CHICKEN WINGS ($6.95).
The grill must have not been hot enough due to the lack of charred taste, and the wings were cooked for too long because the meat tastes dry. Furthermore, the wings have no hint of spiciness! These are completely the opposite of what we got on the previous visit… and if the wings tasted like this the first time, we would not have ordered them again. I was pretty disappointed because the wings had a flavourful smokey barbecued taste before.

MEDIUM-WELL BEEF BURGER WITH MAYONAISE, KETCHUP, LETTUCE, TOMATO, ONION, DILL PICKLE ($9.95), CHEDDAR ($1.00), FRIED EGG ($1.00) AND BACON ($1.50). CHOICE OF SIDE, GRAVY ($0.95) AND CORN.
The corn tastes simple, light and buttery. As for the gravy, it tastes like a generic pre-mix and is not heavy on the salt.

Wow, the burger is pretty darn good. The patty tastes juicy, fresh and delicious. As for the perfectly cooked fried egg, the yolk runs down the burger but does not seep through to the very bottom of the bun. In addition, the bacon tastes crisp but not too crunchy and has a flavourful charred taste. If anything, the buns could have been grilled longer like the pulled pork sandwich on the previous visit, which had a nice charred taste on the crumb. Burger Etc cooks their patties to medium-well and customers can request for a well done patty as well.

1LB PORK SIDE RIBS WITH FRIES CHOICE OF SIDE, BAKED BEANS ($16.00).
The ribs are another raved about item but like the wings, disappointed. By the way, I do need to mention again that when I rave about something, I go on for WEEKS. And these ribs were one of them! Unfortunately though, the ribs taste dry as well as chewy, and not even half as smokey as the previous visit! Furthermore again like the wings, if the ribs tasted like this on the first visit, we would not even bother revisiting. As for the fries, they are crisp as well as served hot, and the star is the baked beans. The baked beans have a light sugary taste.

TOTAL: $45.45 + TIP $10.00 = $55.00.

Overall we tipped 20% because the owner and his wife were super friendly and checked up on almost every table at the restaurant. However, I am pretty upset with the food, especially since I yapped about the wings and ribs for literally two weeks… Every. Single. Day! Will I revisit? Possibly, but I will make sure to come during lunch or early in the evening when the restaurant is slower like the previous visit, and hopefully the food will taste a lot better... if not the same as the first visit, at least hopefully not below average again.

POSITIVES
- Friendly owners
- Burger is pretty good

NEGATIVES
- Barbecued meats taste dry
- Food is inconsistent

LITTLE THINGS
- First post on Burgers Etc [here]… honestly, read it. I was so happy with the food!
- If the third visit is just like the second (which hopefully will not be the case!), I will not bother revisiting again
- Housemade brisket soup was sold out and we really wanted it!!!!!
- Burger tastes way better than any at Fatburger

Food: 1.5/5 (burger 3.5/5)
