Tacofino White Lightning

My friend's first food truck choice was Mogu but after waiting thirty minutes, the truck never showed! We found out a few days later that Mogu stopped their services around the middle of November which explains why. So, our second choice was based on convenience when we headed to Tacofino's White Lightning Truck. Actually Tacofino was our third choice because Mr.Shawarma's food truck did not open yet.

The both of us have tried the Albacore Tuna Taco before from Tacofino's Orange Cantina Food Truck and Tacofino Commissary which we really like, but had no idea the White Lightning Truck does not offer them!  As for the selection, the food truck offers a couple of tacos, a variety of burritos, and a chocolate diablo cookie. The prices range from $5.00-$11.00 with the higher items being burritos.

Rocky Point Ice Cream

While dropping by Safeway at Kensington Plaza, there happened to be a birthday celebration for Cobs Bread. What did that mean? Free ice cream from Rocky Point!

The available flavours were salted caramel, mint flake, espresso flake, rocky point road, maple walnut, cotton candy, vanilla as well as strawberry, and a sorbet such as mixed berry. Furthermore, there was a special flavour which was made especially for Cobs, lemon blueberry scone.

Candy Meister

Going for a stroll on Commercial Drive since C'est la vie Maggi and I rarely come down here or are familiar with the area, she randomly yelled "candy food truck" and we made our way to Candy Meister. Walking up to the candy truck (the only truck where one can take candy from a stranger!), the friendly clerk offered us some samples while we took a look around.

Candy Meister offers fruit as well as herbal flavoured hard candies, cough drops, lollipops and marshmallows. Personally, I am not a fan of hard candy because I like to finish sweets right away rather than savouring them in my mouth (also because of fob thoughts such as getting a cavity!), although I do find the cough drops healthier than grocery store brands. The hard candies are priced at $3.81 each or 3/$10.48 and we went for three packs. Maggi's choice is the Green Woodruff Leaves and mine are the Honey Bees as well as the Fizzy Candy. Luckily for me, Maggi is not a big fan of Candy and I got to keep all three packs LOL. Plus, she paid for them too!

$2.85 Burger Cart

A couple of weeks ago, my friend asked if I wanted to try "Japanese flavoured hamburgers for $2.85". Huh? Japanese flavoured? $2.85? Is it any good? Turns out when she said "Japanese flavoured", it means teriyaki sauce. After finishing up some shopping, we made our way to the food truck which is conveniently located a block or two away from Pacific Centre. The food truck offers a few options of canned pop and two burger choices, beef patty with cheese or without. We both passed on the cheese since we did not want processed.

Yolk's Breakfast

The most important choice at Yolk's, poached eggs or chicken n' waffles?
Being a lazy eater, chicken n' waffles seemed less messy and easier to eat, plus, many people rave about them. I was not really hungry when I ordered from Yolk's but now looking back, I should have ordered more food such as the poached eggs, hashbrowns and orange juice. Because now, I have to make another trip just to try everything, sigh. The good news is, I am a picky eater and want to come back, that must mean something right? The line up was not very long and the friendly cashier mentioned there would be a fifteen minute wait. If there is usually a somewhat long wait, this may be a problem for those who are on their lunch break, but hey, at least everything is made to order!

Aussie Pie Guy

Not a fan of starting a post without much to write about, since, well, it will be boring. However, I justify this post despite the lack of content because I will be revising Aussie Pie Guy to try every pie available! What can I say? This cute little dinky pie and friendly staff sold me. Something so small such as having a smile on your face honestly lures back most customers, just like that. Would I bother coming back if the pie tastes average and the staff is "meh"? Na. The staff did not even have to do anything… they were just normal and friendly, surprisingly something that most people cannot be.

Tacofino Cantina

Grrr where was Tacofino Cantina last Friday?! I raved about their albacore tuna tacos to my friend and we tried coming here last week, but the truck never showed! We ended up having to go to La Taqueria instead too because we were really craving for tacos. In addition, after eating, we even came back to check if Tacofino showed up and that darn food truck honestly did not show!

The Juice Truck

Apparently a lot of people love this juice truck! My friend and I came today around noon which is right when they open.

The menu

My drink is THE PATIO, BLUEBERRY PRESSED WITH PEAR, MINT, LIME, ALOE VERA JUICE AND COCONUT WATER WITH ADDED GINGER ($7.50) and her drink is THE COCONUT, COCONUT MEAT BLENDED WITH COCONUT WATER, COCONUT MILK, LIME, RAW VANILLA AND COCONUT NECTAR ($7.00).

I think we may have ordered the wrong drinks because neither of us enjoyed them. The patio tastes like warm (which is not a problem) watered down fruit punch with a slight taste of ginger. I cannot really comment on the coconut since I do not like coconut in general, but my friend loves coconut and says it is nothing special and not the best. She would have liked it if they charge a higher price and used real coconut meat.

If they had a simple drink with carrots, celery and ginger, I would have gotten that. I really think they should add a customized drink option for $8.00 and you can choose what you want. I love the idea especially since I am sure some people hate cleaning their juicer (like me) and the customized drink option would make it better for picky people or people who know what they like!
