La Taqueria Taco Shop : Downtown location

I can admit, La Taqueria was not my first choice and I actually really, really, REALLY wanted to go to Tacofino (I LOVE their tuna taco) but that darn food truck never showed! Since parking has been paid, my friend and I decided to walk to La Taqueria. We came around 1:00pm today and there was a line up. La Taqueria has a very efficient system. One man heats the taco shells and adds the fillings, and a lady adds the finishing touches of cilantro and onions.

The seating is very limited and I assume most people grab the food to go. I would rather eat in though since the tacos would probably get soggy with the whole steam being strapped in the container. Red onion, jalapeño and hot sauces (mild, medium, spicy and hot) are available on the side.

MEAT TACOS $2.50/EACH, VEGGIE TACOS $2.00/EACH OR $7.00/FOUR, DRINKS $2.00
TACOS AND JARRITOS.

JARRITOS MANDARIN AND JARRITOS MANGO ($2.00).
The mandarin has a strong fizziness as well as a light mandarin taste and tastes more artificial (contains natural sugar though), resembling the taste of lollipops. For the mango, the drink tastes less fizzy and more like juice.

TINGA DE POLLO; CHICKEN WITH CHORIZO IN A CHIPOTLE TOMATO SAUCE, TOPPED WITH MEXICAN CHEESE AND SOUR CREAM.
AL PASTOR; CHILLIWAK PORK MARINATED IN CHILE CHILLI, ACHIOTE AND PINEAPPLE.
CARNITAS; PORK CONFIT WITH PICKLED RED ONION.
ASADA; GRILLED AAA FLANK BEEF FILET ($7.00).
To start, the chicken with chorizo does not taste dry and the meats taste tender with a generic light bean sauce. However, since the filling was not heavy, the second tortilla made the taco taste a bit dry. Next, the pork, achiote and pineapple taco has a nice pleasant sweetness, it works. Continuing, the pork confit with pickled red onion was my favourite. A simple natural pork meat taste. And last, the beef fillet. The beef fillet taco has a nice strong char taste from the grill and tastes flavourful, although it did taste a bit too chewy.

PESCADO; GRILLED SEASONAL FISH WITH PICO DE GALLO.

She basically ordered the same tacos except for the fish. The pescado tastes firm but not stiff and has a light tangy tomato taste that contrasts with the fish.

POSITIVES
- Extremely friendly cashier! He even showed us the sauces
- Friendly staff. Everyone was cheerful, happy and positive. Plus, everyone said goodbye which is not even needed considering a small an extremely busy joint like this

NEGATIVES
- In a way, kind of average to me and is nothing special

Food: 2.5/5
Service: 5/5
